After honing my skills for several years at large, prestigious firms, I was inspired to establish my own boutique practice. This endeavor not only feeds my enduring passion for design but also affords me the balance I cherish in my work and personal life. Indeed, running my own firm allows my meticulous—some may say OCD—nature to flourish, bringing an unparalleled level of attention to detail to every project I undertake. The path from a project’s conception to its ultimate fruition is seldom without its challenges. Yet, overcoming these obstacles and witnessing a space transform is a rewarding experience for me.

In 2016, Esther Chi started her own boutique interior design firm, Mudan Interior Design, after working in several award-winning interior design and architectural firms, such as Champalimad in New York city and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca architect in Seattle, WA. She has a portfolio that spans across prestigious projects both within the United States and across the globe:

Esther is a certified interior designer in the state of Maryland. Her accreditation as a National Council for Interior Design Qualification professional, widely recognized in the interior design industry, is a testament to her exceptional skill set. Furthermore, she proudly bears the title of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional, demonstrating her commitment to sustainable design practices with the US Green Building Council.
Esther earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Later, she pursued her master degree at the esteemed Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
After years of living and crafting designs in the bustling metropolis of New York City, Esther now lives in Montgomery County, Maryland, with her husband and two children.
